GUARDIAN HOME

Our Guardian Home Program allows for local families to have pick a "pick of the litter puppy".  The Guardian Home puppy or dog is part of the Guardian Home's Family Forever, while the ownership and breeding rights are retained by Amelia Island Australian Labradoodles during the breeding career of the dog.  Once the Guardian Dog has completed his/her breeding career, he/she will be spayed or neutered, and the dog will remain a forever pet of their Guardian Family!

GUARDIAN HOME RESPONSIBILITIES

Guardian Home Families will not have to purchase the puppy/dog but will instead invest in training their puppy/dog with an approved trainer.  Guardian Home Families are responsible for the general routine veterinary care and wellness of the Guardian puppy/dog placed with them.  This includes annual vaccines, feeding approved high quality dog food, grooming, monthly heart worm prevention, flea/tick prevention, training, regular exercise and socialization, and most of all love and attention!

Any "breeding related" medical costs for the Guardian Dog are at the expense of Amelia Island Australian Labradoodles.  Our Guardian Homes are only responsible for routine maintenance and medical care just as they would if they had their own dog.

There are many benefits to being a Guardian Home.  Guardian Families are given a puppy/dog that is the very top of the line with temperament, health, and coat that we hold back to further our program with the highest of breeding standards.  A Guardian dog will also be completely health tested prior to entering into our breeding program at the expense of Amelia Island Australian Labradoodles.  Our Guardian Families also get to enjoy the excitement of being part of our breeding program , and seeing the offspring of their very own Guardian Dog!

REQUIREMENTS TO BECOME A GUARDIAN HOME

To be considered as a Guardian Home for one of our breeding dogs, we require that you live within 1 to 1 1/2 hour drive to Fernandina Beach, FL.  It is necessary that you have physical fencing to provide a safe and secure environment for the Guardian puppy/dog.  All dogs or pups placed in a Guardian Home must not be left outdoors for prolonged periods of time.  The Guardian Family must have a work schedule that does not leave the dog alone for long periods of time. Guardian female dogs must not be left outside unattended during their heat cycle.

DETAILS

Most all of our pups/dogs available for our Guardian Program will be females.  Occasionally, we will have a male available as well!  During the first year Amelia Island Australian Labradoodles will have the Guardian Dog's

health testing completed.

When the Guardian Female is in season, the Guardian Family is required to contact us immediately.  An intact female usually has a heat cycle that will last between 14 to 21 days.  During that time, we will need access to her for breeding related appointments.  Once she has been bred, she will remain with her Guardian Family until one week before her due date.  At that time, the Guardian Dog will come back to stay with us throughout her pregnancy, and will be returned once her pups are fully weened approximately 6 weeks after pups are born.  Guardian Families are welcomed and encouraged to visit with scheduled appointments while their Guardian Dog is with Amelia Island Australian Labradoodles.  Guardian Male's are needed periodically throughout the year to provide services.  This is usually a short visit that may take place at our home.

Most of our Guardian Females will have around 4 litters.  The health and well being of our girls is our top priority.  They will be assessed after each litter to determine what's best for them.  Our males will be assessed yearly as well but will most likely be part of our breeding program for 7yrs.
